ABOUT MWFA
The Manly Warringah Football Association (MWFA) is the largest grassroots football association in Australia with 20,000 players registered in 1400 teams at 17 local clubs as well as the Manly United Football Club (representative teams).
The MWFA is the peak body responsible for the overall development, organisation and promotion of football on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and Mosman and oversees a unified and integrated football eco-system that delivers a simple and clear football pathway for players of all ages and abilities.
The MWFA is committed to offering a grassroots environment with a clear mandate to keep players playing the game for enjoyment from the Mini-Roos through to the Over 40s and Over 45 competitions. All decisions are made in the best interests of football, MWFA Member Clubs and players.
The MWFA is equally committed to offering a clear pathway for talented players to move from grassroots clubs to Manly United and to the A-League Men and Women competitions and beyond so players can reach their potential.
The MWFA is a Member of Football NSW, Football Australia and as such is affiliated with FIFA, the world governing body for football.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The MWFA is offering an amazing opportunity for a sports administrator to join our team and assist the MWFA Competitions Manager with the delivery of competitions and structures for the 20,000 registered players in the MWFA.
The successful applicant will have responsibilities across all aspects of the running of the MWFA Competitions, with tasks split between assisting the Competitions Manager and an increasing level of responsibility over some aspects of the competition’s structure and delivery.
This role is ideal for an applicant that has gathered some experience in sports administration (either through a paid role or volunteer duties) or an operational role and has a knowledge and passion for grassroots sport.
The successful applicant will work closely with the MWFA Competitions Manager and the staff as part of an expanded team due to the increase in size of the MWFA Competitions.
The position has been created following consistent growth in player numbers that has seen the MWFA grow to 20,000 players, making it the largest grassroots football association in Australia.
We have an inclusive, energetic and driven staff and we are looking for an MWFA Administrator to assist with providing a safe and enjoyable football environment for our players, coaches, referees and volunteers.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Assist the MWFA Competition Manager in administration of the MWFA Competitions (MWFA Winter Competitions, MWFA Challenge Cup and Summer Football). Including but not limited to Draws, Pre Season Sanction Forms, Ground Allocations, MWFA Cup nominations, Sub Junior Team nominations, communication with the MWFRA, Finals Days organisation, wet weather/forfeits and PL/AL nomination forms.
- Liaise with Football NSW on all competition matters; Waratah Cup, State Cup, State Titles and Champion of Champions, Sapphire Cup
- Assist with implementation of the Digital Match Sheets (DMS) and monitoring of its progress.
- Responsible for operations at MWFA Finals Days and the occasional MWFA specific matchdays at Cromer Park
- Monitor and administer offences committed by Clubs under MWFA and MWFRA Playing Rules
- Assist with administration of borrowing rules and communication with clubs
- Coordinate Calendar of Events including Meetings, Cromer Park schedule, Annual Affiliation forms, AGM information, Office Bearer Forms
- Manage MWFA trophies / medallions for all participants and winners of Grand Final days.
- Organise all MWFA/MUFC Gala Days with football staff
- Assist with organisation of MWFA functions and events (Presentation Nights)
- Responsible for International Transfer Certificates (ITC’s) for MWFA players, along with MWFA Registrars
- Liaising with MWFA committees
- Banking and PO Box clearing for MWFA on a weekly basis
SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Passion for and Knowledge of Football – Applicants with a passion and knowledge of football will be an advantage
- Local knowledge – An understanding of the local MWFA and Manly United ecosystem and landscape will be an advantage
- Flexibility – We will offer flexible working hours and in return will have an expectation that this role will sometimes require deadlines to be met outside traditional working hours, particularly during the busy winter months.
- A Degree/Diploma in Sports Administration would be beneficial but not essential for the right candidate.
- Current Drivers Licence
- Completion of Working with Children Check
