It’s an exciting time to be involved in Cricket, as the Big Bash League (BBL) and Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) continue to grow and are now the most watched and fourth most-watched sporting leagues in Australia on a per-game basis. The Melbourne Renegades combine their edgy off-field entertainment with thrilling world class cricketers to give fans of all ages experiences they will never forget.
The Melbourne Renegades are currently seeking to appoint a BBL Assistant Coach (Bowling) for the BBL|13 season, to provide support to the BBL Head Coach – Melbourne Renegades with regards to training, preparation and the provision of relevant data insights with a focus on bowling. This appointment will be from early December 2023 to early February 2024.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Assist with the general training, net sessions and coaching requirements at all sessions.
- Assist with skills analysis of individuals and provide feedback to Head Coach.
- Assist the Head Coach in researching and formulating the team, match and individual skills plans.
- Where required, provide individual skill acquisition sessions – bowling and fielding.
- Assist with the planning, preparing and provision of visual and verbal feedback to players.
- Research and analyse opposition players as required.
- Assist players’ preparation for the season (in the lead-up to the season) to maximise their readiness for the BBL season and increase players’ impact.
- Timely and accurate input of player information for all aligned squads into the Athlete Management System (AMS).
- Attend all matches and training sessions. Travel with the BBL Team for all Interstate matches and be in attendance at all matches including practice matches.
About You
The successful candidate will be results driven with a proven ability to plan strategically, delivering results within agreed timeframes. They will devote as much time towards the duties as Assistant Coach of the team as is necessary to carry out obligations of this role, as well as portraying a positive image in the public arena. Ultimately they will demonstrate a genuine passion to coach successful athletes and improve the Renegades’ bowling statistics which leads to team success.
To be considered, you will meet the below criteria:
- 3+ years of coaching or playing experience at an elite level
- Level 3 Cricket Australia Coaching Accreditation or equivalent internationally recognised certification
- Highly developed interpersonal (oral and written), negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Established strong people management skills and demonstrated relationship building abilities
- Current Victorian Employee Working with Children Check (or the ability to obtain one)
