It’s an exciting time for tennis in Australia and we have ambitious plans to continue to grow the game from grassroots through to high performance. We are transforming how we deliver tennis, with the aim of making it more accessible, to more people, more often. To help us achieve our plan we are looking for a full time Centre Manager – Head Coach at the Gardens Tennis Club (GTC) to join our team at Tennis NT on a 12 month fixed-term contract.
The Centre Manager – Head Coach at the Gardens Tennis Club (GTC) will be responsible for the development and onsite delivery of a range of tennis programs designed to increase participation numbers and the playing standard at the venue. Through sound management processes, documented training programs, and positive staff and stakeholder relationships, the position will play a pivotal role in improving service delivery and sales growth to ensure the development of a strong and well-respected tennis brand in the greater Darwin area.
About the role
Reporting into the CEO – Tennis NT, in this role you will:
- Collaborate with Tennis NT to develop and document plans that provide a strategic direction and vision for the GTC
- Develop and deliver quality Tennis coaching programs and pathways
- Provide tennis coaching services to all appropriate market segments
- Oversee the front of house operations including Pro Shop and Cafe ensuring and friendly and safe environment for customers
- Develop and oversee adult & junior customer pathway from beginner tennis to social play to competitive match play and tournaments
- Ensure staff are engaged and managed in line with the relevant award and are maintained within budget
About you
What you will bring to the role:
- Excellent operational skills including on court coaching skills
- Previous experience in sales and merchandising, as well as in retail management across sporting equipment
- Great organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, plan work programs and meet deadlines
- Previous experience managing, leading and motivating a team
- Previous point of sale and cash handling experience
- A TA Club Pro Coach Tennis Coaching qualification, or equivalent, beneficial
- A current Responsible Serving of Alcohol certificate
- You must hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check
