About the opportunity: We are looking for a Charity Finance Manager to join our growing Everton in the Community team.



As Finance Manager for the charity, you will contribute to the effective running of Everton in the Community by managing the day-to-day end-to-end finance operations, which includes management accounts, financial planning and analysis, balance sheet and VAT reconciliations and looking to make improvements to procedures and controls, in line with Charity governance and best practice.



The post holder will be responsible for, but not limited to, producing management accounts and completing account procedures within the Finance team, this will also involve bringing our management accounts process in-house within a 6-month period from start date.

You will play a critical role in providing financial guidance and support to Everton in the Community, and as such will contribute to the Charity’s growth strategy, ensuring that finance functions are well managed and controlled.

To support with this, you will manage a Finance Administrator, ensuring work is delegated at the appropriate level and that work is managed and monitored. In addition, you will have support from the Director of Finance, Governance & Assets (DFGA) and our external accountancy firm.



Other key responsibilities will include:



Finance

Leading the day-to-day financial management of the Charity including recording transactions accurately using Xero, dealing with all aspects of purchase orders and invoices, sales invoices, monthly bank reconciliation (including reconciliation of credit cards and Caxton cards), processing journals (including wages journal, hospitality recharges, stock journals and internal transfers), reconciling PDQ payments, reconciling fundraising stream income, and allocating credit notes.

To prepare and complete monthly Management Accounts for a number of individual cost centres (budget lines) by the end of the following month. Management Accounts are to be produced to a standard appropriate for delivery to the Executive Management team, Board of Trustees and Budget holders.

To undertake agreed special projects as required from time to time, as directed by the DFGA.

To raise cheques and process BACS transfers for approved payments to suppliers (at least fortnightly), ensuring that all payments are properly authorised, approved, and accounted for.

To issue Remittance Advices to suppliers etc. once payments have been generated either by BACS or cheque.

To manage the weekly banking process (via cash collection service), ensuring paperwork is accurate and Xero is updated accurately on the day of banking.

To record sales receipts on Xero for the hospitality provision, ensuring the correct application of VAT.



People Management

To provide professional and inspirational leadership to the team, and wider staff body, as required, in order to support individual growth and development.

To work closely with individuals to develop their skills, utilising a consultative and supportive approach to develop potential.

To co-ordinate all operational activities, delegating and organising work schedules and thinking ahead to ensure resource is appropriately allocated.

To ensure business priorities are met, performance is optimised, and training and development needs of the team delivered.



Safeguarding

To understand the Club’s Safeguarding policy, procedures, and best practice guidelines.

To use this understanding to ensure safe working practices, appropriate reporting of concerns and contribute positively to an Anti-bullying environment.

Essentially, the successful candidate must be suitably qualified and have a sound knowledge and understanding of core financial processes and procedures, as well as knowledge of Charity VAT legislation.



Other key Knowledge and Skills will include:

Minimum AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting (Level 3 or 4) or similar / appropriate qualification(s)

Good working knowledge of common ICT applications, with a clear understanding of the potential for ICT in enabling more innovative and effective approaches to the community organisation.

Proficient in excel with the ability to manipulate data etc.



This role is a permanent position, working 35 hours per week.



The location is based on-site within our Everton in the Community Campus, Liverpool, L4
