About Northside Wizards Basketball:
Northside Wizards is a regional basketball association operating in Queensland. It was formed in 1955 and has grown to be one of the largest basketball associations in the state with more than 3000 playing members across our junior, senior, professional, and grass-roots programs.
Our basketball program includes competitions, players’ skilling programs, coaching development, officials’ development with a strong foundation of excellence. Our facilities are world-class, and we look to continue the growth of new facilities and existing venue management to support our growth in the future.
Northside Wizards membership base is strong, our finances support the association’s growth, and our community is committed to a great basketball association.
Given the growth the association has experienced in recent years and with the demographics of basketball projecting further strong participation, the association is seeking to appoint a Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation through the next exciting era of delivery and growth.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for the delivery of day-to-day and operations of the association and guiding strategic priorities.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead, develop and motivate the team delivering excellence across all aspects of the basketball program.
- Implement initiatives, business practices, systems, and processes to support the strategic plan.
- Deliver financially sustainable budgets, prepare board papers and all statutory reporting requirements.
- Oversee the financial and administrative operation of the association, ensuring continued financial strength.
- Develop and execute opportunities to grow and better utilize our facilities.
- Work with the Board to develop a sustainable sponsorship and commercial program.
- Work with the Board to manage stakeholder relationships across governments, sponsors, basketball administrators, schools and community groups.
- Develop and write funding applications for government grants.
- Work collaboratively with volunteers, members, and clubs.
About You:
You are a highly effective leader, experienced in sports, recreation, or educational management, who can lead our organisation through a sustained period of growth. You will have strong experience with delivering strong and sustained change and outcomes. You have proven capability to execute and work across strategic and operational priorities, be comfortable at the grassroots as a ‘hands-on’ leader and are confident working with a full range of organisational levels, including the Board.
You will demonstrate the following attributes:
- Understand community-based sport with sound knowledge of the Australian sport and recreation industry.
- Strong team leadership skills to empower delivery across various programs of work.
- Proven financial acumen and understand all aspects of financial management.
- Decision making, problem solving and policy writing skills.
- Demonstrate time management and prioritising to meet deadlines.
- Understand the necessary governance requirements of a not-for-profit association.
This is a permanent position, based at our Zillmere offices in the northern suburbs of Brisbane. Relocation assistance for the successful candidate is possible at the discretion of the Board.
