Job Description

The Commercial Services – Operations Project Manager will lead the operations projects at the Shire’s Commercial Services Facilities including the five aquatic and recreation facilities, four cemeteries, foreshore camping grounds and Mt Martha Public Golf Course.

About the Role

The purpose of this role is to lead and support the successful planning and delivery of the Commercial Services teams operational projects and capital works plans to ensure the Shire’s commercial facilities remain operational and are kept in well operating and functional condition for our community utilise. The Shire’s Commercial Facilities include Recreation and Aquatic Centres, Mt Martha Public Golf Course, Foreshore Camping Grounds and Cemeteries.

Reporting to the Team Leader – Commercial Services the core responsibilities of Commercial Services – Operations Project Manager include:

  • Lead the coordination Commercial Services operational projects from inception through to completion adhering to stage gate quality guidelines, processes and systems throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop business case, initial scope and costings to inform sound options analysis, minimise risks and ensure financial viability.
  • Identify and manage key stakeholder relationships across the organisation ensuring stakeholder requirements and change requests are managed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop clear and succinct consultant briefs to effectively engage professional services as required.
  • Manage procurement processes and undertake effective contract management and supervision where required.
  • Ensure effective financial management through identification of budgetary requirements and monitoring of budget performance, and taking remedial action as required.

About You

The Commercial Services – Operations Project Manager will have:

  • Organisation and time management skills necessary research, optioneering, feasibility and stakeholder engagement to develop concept and project plans and business cases.
  • Experience in project management and contract management.
  • Exceptional communication and report writing skills to provide expert advice, update and report to key stakeholders and Council.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal departments to effectively plan and coordinate the delivery of  projects in accordance with agreed timelines and outcomes.
  • Experience in the planning and delivering of major and minor projects,
  • Ability to coordinate and manage external consultants and contractors.
