Job Description

About us:

Badminton England is the organisation for all things badminton in England for everyone who wants to get involved whatever age, ability or gender. Our people love playing, watching and supporting badminton. We want everyone in England to do the same and become part of the badminton community, whether as a player, coach, volunteer or fan.

With over a million players playing every month, badminton is the nation’s most played racket sport and the sixth biggest sport overall. We want to inspire everyone to play more, support louder and love badminton, from this generation to the next.

The unique qualities of badminton make it accessible and enjoyable for anyone and everyone. And we work collaboratively with our partners and stakeholders to provide traditional and innovative opportunities for all to be involved; from primary school programmes to adult social badminton, from clubs to counties, and from our world class coaching development to our major events delivery.

Role summary:

This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of Badminton England’s new 10-year strategy due to be launched this summer. We recognise that having a robust and innovative digital strategy underpinning our new strategy is critical and this role will be crucial in shaping and implementing a transformational digital roadmap that will grow our connected audience, improve the quality of experience for the badminton community and drive additional revenues into the sport.

We are seeking to appoint an accomplished digital specialist, directly accountable to the Commercial Director. This newly developed role will lead in the development and execution of the digital strategy. The ability to build strong relationships within the organisation and with third party partners and suppliers is essential, alongside an up-to-date knowledge of the latest developments and innovations within the industry.

The successful candidate is therefore someone who will have strong technical knowledge of product and platform development alongside proven experience of managing complex digital projects and CRM communication strategies.

This role is both strategic, leading on the design and development of the organisations digital strategy as well as a hands on ‘doing’ role, required to deliver the strategy on a daily basis.

Responsibilities:

Review, shape and direct a transformational digital strategy and implementation plan to deliver components across all strategic development programmes and projects, with the overriding aim to achieve a best-in-class customer experience and delivery of the digital strategy.
Overall management responsibility for delivering a data warehouse and SSO capability across all aspects of the organisation.
Coordinate third party partners (web provider, tournament software, Ticket partners) in the development of project plans agreeing key implementation milestones and ensuring projects are delivered to time and on budget.
Utilise the data and customer insights delivered through a more connected platform model to develop and manage a targeted and responsive CRM strategy.
Ensure data can be effectively managed, shared and protected across the wide range of Badminton England activities to support the growth objectives for the sport.
Develop an annual plan, budget, KPIs and work programme to deliver the Digital Strategy
Deliver innovative and cost-effective solutions to implement developments to improve Badminton England’s digital ecosystem and grow our connected audience, including across web, OTT and app development.
Work with the wider Commercial department to develop assets that can be developed to support brand partner conversations and deliver routes to monetise our products and platforms.
Provide guidance on efficiencies of internal systems, recommend improvements to platforms, optimising platform capability and customer journeys to maximise engagement.
Develop appropriate policies and procedures to manage the commercial and service relationships with Badminton England’s suppliers and partners to ensure digital services are aligned to business needs and delivered in an efficient and effective manner.
Ensure Badminton England’s digital data is adequately and appropriately managed and secured to recognised and required standards (i.e. Data Protection Acts and GDPR)
About you:

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for making a difference, providing the right infrastructure and strategy to engage and grow the badminton community.

You will have:

Extensive and broad digital experience with experience of digital product and programme development, CRM campaign management and developing and implementing digital content strategies.
Track record of successful project management through product or programme development/implementation.
Experience of working across and developing large CRM projects and campaigns.
