Job Description

Griffith Sport, a department of Corporate Services within Griffith University is responsible for a diverse range of sport and recreation activities, services and facilities for students, staff and the external community across Brisbane, Logan and the Gold Coast.

We are looking for an Event Coordinator to be responsible for providing support and assistance for the planning, coordination, execution and review of Griffith Sport Events, Programs and Activities. The primary focus of this role is to provide high level support to on-campus recreational engagement events (eg market days, show days, chill out weeks etc) including online student events, as well as sport event management support to our major sporting events. This role is also responsible for the casual workforce and large event volunteer program which supports our events. Success in this role requires collaboration with the Event Manager, wider Griffith Sport team, current students, members of the community and external providers.

What we can offer

This is a 2 year fixed term, full time position, primarily based at the Griffith University Nathan campus. As Griffith is a multi-campus University, and the department is responsible for event provision on the Brisbane and Logan campuses, you will be required to work across other campus locations.

The full time equivalent base salary will be HEW Level 5 range $74,016 – $83,033  per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $86,599 – $97,149 per annum.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Bachelor level qualifications in Sport and/or Event Management combined with relevant experience working in a tertiary environment and/or the sport and recreation industry.
  • Current Driver’s Licence 
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Current Blue Card

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Highly developed communication, organisational, and administrative skills with effective people management skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to demonstrate a high level of individual initiative, discretion, attention to detail and judgement to perform duties and manage multiple tasks in a timely manner.
  • Management of casual staff and volunteer programs.
  • Passion for the event, engagement & sport industry.
  • Ability to easily integrate into a team setting and be able to adapt to a very diverse environment with competing priorities on a daily basis.
