Job Description

Shore is a leading Anglican Day and Boarding School, emphasising excellence in academic, cultural, and sporting pursuits and fostering integrity in moral and spiritual development in a Christian environment. Established in 1889 as a leading comprehensive school for the education of boys, Shore welcomed girls to the Early Learning Centre and K, 1, 2 Preparatory School at its Northbridge Campus in 2003. The rich history and traditions of Shore have powerfully shaped the School, fostering a sense of community and belonging.

Shore is seeking to appoint a full-time Head of Athletic Development for our Senior School campus at North Sydney to oversee, manage, provide leadership, and further cultivate the Athletic Development programme at Shore.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the design, planning and implementation of high-quality, age and experience appropriate Strength and Conditioning programmes for all Shore students.
  • Liaise with The Sportsmaster and MICs of Sport to design programmes, strategies, and innovations to optimise the performance of Shore’s Sport programme, particularly across the GPS Premiership Teams.
  • Management, supervision, and rostering of Athletic Development Staff including Strength & Conditioning Coordinator, Casual Strength & Conditioning staff, Associate Coaches (Student Intern) and Physiotherapists.
  • Coordinate and oversee the RAI Grant Centre, assisting in the development of structures, systems, procedures, and optimal utilisation of the facility.
  • Prepare and manage the Athletic Development department Budget.
  • Gym and Facility supervision including exercise/movement correction.
  • Oversee the daily use of the gymnasium including ordering and storage of supplies and equipment.
  • Identification of ‘Athletic Talent’ through physical testing in PDHPE.
  • Providing leadership for staff members of the Athletic Development Department/team.
  • The development of appropriate pathways informed by the FTEM Framework

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Extensive experience as a Strength & Conditioning Coach, ideally in a school setting.
  • Experience in working in the design and implementation of age-appropriate Strength and Conditioning frameworks across a range of sports.
  • Undergraduate Degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Desired: Post Graduate Degree (Honours, Masters or PhD).
  • Australian Strength and Conditioning Association Level 2 Certification.
  • The ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • The ability to give attention to details in record keeping and follow up.
