The Purpose:

The Head of Sustainability will shape Manchester United’s ESG strategy and priorities and coordinate the implementation and reporting of ESG activities.
The individual will serve as a catalyst for positive change and champion for ESG strategy and commitments, and will define and drive our ESG agenda by inspiring stakeholders (fans, employees and partners) in our purpose and performance focused club; and will communicate our sustainability achievements internally and externally.

The Role:
Engage with the leadership teams (Executive Team Sponsors and Senior Management Team); shape the strategy and governance for the overarching ESG activity for the club, ensure alignment of EGS outcomes with the five-year strategic plan.
Inspire and consult with functional heads who are accountable for the delivery of ESG activities and outcomes across the Club.
Be on the forefront of knowledge with sustainability and ESG.
Develop reporting and analytics capability (either directly or through third parties) to provide analysis on trends, progress, risks and expectations.
Responsible for ESG reporting and the delivery of any annual reporting cycles.
Coordinate activities and communications related to key initiatives.
Drive collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to contribute to the delivery of our ESG priorities and progress.
Track the progress of the ESG commitments and ensure increased individual and functional awareness of ESG within the Club.
Manage the risk register and assess risks (with functional heads) relating to ESG within the club, putting in place robust plans for ESG impacts.

The Person:
You will have a genuine passion for ESG and will have an understanding of ESG frameworks, standards and applicable laws and regulations.
A truly inspiring thought-leader, with the ability to impact and drive change through exceptional interpersonal and consultative capabilities.
You will have the ability to balance between being creative, strategic and analytical, driving for success with ESG priorities.
A strong aptitude to work with data and insights and reporting
An excellent relationship builder who can build credibility with internal and external stakeholders.
You will have the ability to influence and energise teams towards positive action
