About the Organisation

Australian Taekwondo Queensland is the State Sporting Organisation for Taekwondo in Queensland.  ATQs primary focus is the ongoing development and promotion of the sport and martial art of Taekwondo. To that end, we work with a range of partners within and beyond Queensland to bring the sport of taekwondo to as many people as we possibly can.  

Position Description

Australian Taekwondo Queensland is seeking a motivated individual to join our Board of Directors as an Independent Director.

As one of 2 independent directors you will play a key role in providing strategic, governance and financial guidance to the organisation.  This is an exciting time to be involved in sports administration as we grow taekwondo in preparation for the 2032 Olympics in Brisbane.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

• Attending Board meetings and actively participate in discussions and decision making;
• Providing independent, objective input to the Board on setting, revising and monitoring ATQs strategy and objectives;
• Ensuring appropriate governance and risk management practices for the Board;
• Monitoring the performance of ATQ; and
• Liaising with government.

The role may also involve the preparation of financial reports.

Selection Criteria

• A high level of financial acumen
• A strong understanding of corporate governance practices
• Previous experience in sporting administration
