Job Description
Scarlets rugby are seeking to appoint a highly skilled and motivated individual to lead the physiotherapy delivery to the first team squad. The individual will ideally have a minimum of 5 years working in elite sport, with some of that time spent in rugby union.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. As directed by the Lead Doctor, provide comprehensive evidence based physiotherapy provision to all Scarlets Rugby players at training and competition venues
2. Co-ordinate and plan the medical provision and delivery of an effective physiotherapy service
3. As directed by the Lead Doctor arrange appropriate medical investigations and consultations for Scarlets Rugby players
4. To work as part of the Scarlets Rugby Performance Team (Sports Medicine, Sport Science, S&C, Nutrition and other service providers) to maximise player availability and return injured players to performance in safe yet efficient time scales
5. Co-ordinate and conduct the entry screening of all Scarlets Rugby senior squad players at the beginning of each season
6. Collaborate to implement injury prevention and performance enhancement strategies for the Scarlets Rugby senior squad
7. Support the Lead Doctor in completing regular in-season reviews of injury prevalence, severity, trends and exposures
8. Co-ordinate and complete end of season screening and exit medicals as required in partnership with lead doctor
9. Attend appointments and consultations with Scarlets Rugby senior squad players as deemed necessary
10. To positively represent Scarlets Rugby at meetings and events held by the Welsh Rugby Union, PRO14, EPCR, World Rugby, etc when lead doctor unable to attend
Reporting / Documentation
11. Maintain up to date medical notes using the Welsh Rugby Union online communication system
12. Contribute to post match summaries and training reports for the management team in preparation for training and match selection as requested
13. Whilst the Lead Doctor will be the primary communicator with the Scarlets Head Coach on clinical decisions, player availability and RTP, the Lead Physiotherapist will also need to communicate effectively with all members of the Scarlets management and performance teams regarding any medical matters, player injuries, player welfare or player performance
14. Co-ordinate the communication and delivery of information regarding long term injured players rehabilitation progress
15. Provide appropriate leadership to all members of Scarlets Physiotherapy Team
16. Under the direction of the Lead Doctor manage the delivery of an effective medical service to all Scarlets Rugby players
17. Maintain Chartered Society of Physiotherapy membership and Health and Care Professions Council registration
18. Ensure compliance to the Welsh Rugby Union Minimum Medical Standards Criteria in relation to medical service provision and delivery
Education / Continued Professional Development
19. Maintain and provide evidence of Sports Physiotherapy knowledge and practice
20. Ensure personal development plans are in place for all members of Scarlets Rugby Physiotherapy team
