Job Description

Hockey Queensland is the governing state body for the sport of hockey. Our purpose is to lead the success and growth of hockey in Queensland. We are responsible for the governance, events, player development, rules, Association services, marketing, and promotion throughout the state. Hockey Queensland has over 17,000 registered members, 23 Associations and managers over 20 State Hockey Championships and competitions throughout the year. Hockey Qld is also the franchise owner of the Brisbane Blaze Hockey One league team.

The Marketing and Communications Officers responsibilities are to promote and communicate Hockey Queensland activities through social media and digital platforms. The position is responsible for executing key components of the marketing and digital communications strategy as well as maintain daily communication and promotional requirements of Hockey Queensland and the Brisbane Blaze. Hours are part time and flexible however; there will be a requirement to work outside of office hours occasionally and some weekend work.

Position Responsibilities

  • Oversee Hockey Queensland’s social media platforms
  • Develop social media guidelines and ensure they are adhered to
  • Create video and other digital content to promote hockey, Hockey Qld events and the Brisbane Blaze. (note content collection is likely to be outside of office hours when teams are training)
  • Assist with the promotion and awareness of Hockey Qld programs
  • Promote our players, officials, coaches and volunteers
  • Oversee and maintain the Hockey Queensland website
  • Develop and distribute EDMs
  • Prepare briefing notes for Photographers and videographers
  • Manage the marketing and promotion of all Hockey Queensland events
  • Provide operational assistance to the Event and Commercial in the lead up and during events
  • Assist onsite for State Hockey Centre events including Hockey One, in addition to any events where deemed relevant
  • Deliver and support other Hockey Queensland activities and projects as directed
  • Enhance the profile of the diversity in hockey through celebrating success
  • Support education and pathways department to communicate pathway opportunities
  • Other marketing and communications duties as required.

This position will suit a creative self starter with the ability to develop engaging social media content. 

This position is based in Brisbane.
