Job Description
Heart of Midlothian is a Scottish Premiership Football Club and an Edinburgh institution. How-ever, it is more than just a Football Club. An exciting opportunity has arisen at Hearts to join the Commercial & Marketing Department as Marketing Manager. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring greater reach and impact of the Clubs brand and contribute to the delivery and achievement of the Clubs long-term objectives. Last season, Hearts finished third in the top-flight and reached the Scottish Cup Final for the third time in four years, ensuring European group stage football. Season 2022/23 kicked off with all season tickets sold and full home support for all games. Off the pitch, we continue to go from strength to strength, with a strong commercial portfolio and new initiatives planned.
The role requires an individual with a track record of marketing success, experience of implementing creative briefs, rolling out plans and managing the design process with the inhouse creative team.
Marketing Manager Responsibilities:
• Plan and execute marketing campaigns including advertising and copywriting by collaborating with various departments to align on the promotion of Club initiatives.
• Leverage best practices in digital marketing to communicate with supporters and potential partners.
• Monitor digital marketing performance and use data to drive continuous improvement and growth.
• Create the overall marketing plans supporting core commercial revenue priorities.
• Work closely with the Communication and Creative Team to produce campaigns.
• Engage with third-party promoters to increase the visibility & appeal of events, maximising revenue whenever possible.
• Manage and increase the third-party database.
• Manage and supervise multiple projects ensuring resources are allocated according to project needs.
• Liaise with internal departments to understand their requirements and briefs to support their development and growth.
Essential Candidate Criteria:
• Proven experience in a similar role and industry.
• Proven line management experience.
• Degree level education within a relevant discipline (desirable).
• Creativity and the ability to articulate concepts and ideas.
• An ability to operate and manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Familiarity with social digital marketing.
• Ability to work under your own initiative and as part of a team.
• Ability to work to deadlines and excellent attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• An understanding of customer demographics in relation to the market and specific events.
• Ability to collaborate, support and motivate others to create a positive and proactive team environment.
• Adaptability is crucial due to the role involving work with various departments across the Club.
• Ability to be flexible with working hours, including evenings, weekends, and occasional unsociable hours.
Discretion and confidentiality must be upheld at all times, and it is essential for candidates to hold a valid UK driving licence and to be able to evidence Legal Right to Work in the UK.
