Job Description

CGE leads and manages the participation of Team England at the Commonwealth Games, and works closely with each sport’s National Governing Body, our funding partner Sport England (SE), the Games’ Organising Committee, the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), and corporate partners. We help deliver excellent performance environments; represent England effectively within the CGF; and raise the profile and reinforce the value, reputation, and future of this great sporting spectacle.

We are developing an exciting new strategy for CGE to leverage and utilise the success of Team England, with preparations for the Victoria 2026 Commonwealth Games already underway. Job Purpose

The purpose of the role is to work closely with, and provide administrative support to the CEO, Chair and Board. The role is also responsible for managing the day-to-day operational administration of the CGE office.

Accountabilities

CEO, Chair and Board support
• Provide support to the CEO including diary management, arranging meetings and remote calls, booking travel and accommodation, and occasionally drafting and sending emails on the CEO’s behalf
• Support the CEO with key stakeholder management and partner relationships
• Support the CEO on ad-hoc projects as required
• Provide support to the Chair and organise a programme of Board meetings
• Provide support to the Company Secretary for Board meetings
• Minute the Board meetings and relevant sub-committee meetings
• Plan and co-ordinate the annual AGM
• Plan and co-ordinate additional stakeholder engagement events as required

Office Management
• Be the first point of contact for all external communications into CGE
• Manage the generic Team England mailbox, ensuring all enquiries are passed to the relevant people
• Develop and manage a positive relationship with office sharers/landlords,
• Provide office management support in terms of stationary equipment as appropriate and external support as required
• Administer the on-boarding of new staff and the off-boarding of any leavers
• Support the Commonwealth Games England team as required

General
• Be an approachable, positive and ‘go to’ person within the team
• Support the team as required on the planning and UK operations for the Trinidad and Tobago 2023 Youth Games
• Support the team as required on the Victoria 2026 Commonwealth Games project

Role Details
• Accountable to the Chief Executive
• Full time contract of 35 hours per week
• Based in Central London (WC1V 6PL)
• UK and international travel may be required.

Experience/Knowledge
• Experience of administrative support to senior managers and stakeholders
• Experience of providing support to a Board and/or Committees
• Experience in handling sensitive information appropriately
• Experience of office administration
• An understanding of sport in England, the UK, and internationally, particularly the objectives of the Commonwealth Games
• Experience in a sport or sports-related e.g. events environment
• Experience of managing suppliers and other third parties

Skills
• Efficient and effective administrative skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent IT skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, use of Outlook and other communications devices
• Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail
• Ability to balance conflicting demands and tight deadlines
