Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Greater Manchester Community Basketball and Sports Association Ltd, as an Operations and Finance Manager. Known to many as the Manchester and Mystics Basketball Club (‘the Club’) we are a charity and have a commitment to children and young people in the communities of Greater Manchester to maximise opportunities for them to play basketball.
Having started from humble beginnings over 25 years ago we are also highly successful in elite basketball competition, especially at junior levels, with 16 teams in National Basketball League competitions in 2022-23. Five junior teams qualified for the 2021-22 National Final Fours and 3 teams won their Play Off Finals.
The Club also operates a senior men’s team (newly promoted to National Basketball League Division 1) and a senior women’s team (currently in NBL Division 2); and men’s and women’s teams in the elite academy system (aged 16-19).
The Operations and Finance Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Club’s operations and financial position and will work closely with the Board of Trustees and the Director of Basketball. They will have the support of administrative employees and will also need to work closely with the Club’s many volunteers who play a critical role in the success of the Club and the delivery of its aims and objectives.
In addition to administrative employees, the role has line management responsibility for a Court Supervisor and a Basketball Community Development Officer (soon to be recruited posts).
We are looking for someone with energy and enthusiasm for the development of children and young people through sport, with good leadership and management skills and a sound grasp of financial management of a small but ambitious charitable organisation.
Pay & Benefits
We offer a competitive salary circa £30k, subject to experience.
