Tennis Australia’s high-performance unit is committed to growing the integration of sport science and medicine at all performance levels within the sport, through injury prevention, treatment and management with professional tennis players. To help us achieve this, we are now looking for a Senior Physiotherapist to join the team on a two-year fixed contract.

About the role

Reporting to the National Physiotherapy Manager, you will provide physiotherapy services to Tennis Australia’s Senior Professional agreement athletes. The role will also support the National Tennis Academy (NTA) and National Tennis Centre (Melbourne) physiotherapists, and the relevant Sports Science and Medicine teams in the delivery of physiotherapy to all Tennis Australia athletes on agreements.

The successful applicant must be able to travel for approximately 15-20 weeks a year (both national and international travel will be required).

In this role you will:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, the role of the physiotherapist in a high-performance tennis environment
  • Provide case management, rehabilitation programs, individual assessment and injury management advice for targeted players
  • Write, develop and progress individual prevention programs for TA athletes
  • Follow an evidence-based treatment methodology with a focus on manual and exercise therapy
  • Undertake workload monitoring and provide feedback to players and coaches, in line with national philosophy
  • Provide physiotherapy support at events for players at domestic and international events

What you will bring to this role:

  • Registration with AHPRA as a Physiotherapist
  • Masters in Sports & Exercise Physiotherapy or equivalent (completed or currently studying)
  • Postgraduate qualification in Physiotherapy or equivalent (preferable)
  • Titled APA Physiotherapist (preferable)
  • Demonstrated experience providing physiotherapy services in elite sport, preferably with tennis players
  • Demonstrated knowledge of injury epidemiology and management in tennis or similar overhand sport
  • Proven professional attributes in developing strong relationships with athletes, coaches and relevant stakeholders
  • Alignment with the Tennis values of Excellence, Humility, Collaboration and Imagination
  • You must hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check
