Job Description
The YMCA offers classes for children from crawling age through to 13 years, youth classes from 14 years up, and adult classes. Our programs encourage children to participate in a safe and structured environment. We have a variety of gymnastics programs for different levels to suit everyone’s needs.
Gymnasts gain self-confidence, develop personal responsibility and attain leadership skills. They also learn to work together, making friendships that last a lifetime. Our Gymnastics Australia-accredited instructors love seeing students develop their movement skills while they build determination and discipline.
You will leverage your winning personality and initiative to deliver energetic Women’s gymnastics classes. You will lead the Gymnastic Coaches and grow your knowledge and be empowered to shape strong, flexible, determined gymnasts. Your passion and commitment will engage and grow the Gymnasts and coach alike, to strive for excellence. Own the role and use your creativity and resourceful ideas to help gymnasts experience break throughs.
The role involves:
- Building a dynamic gymnastics program(s) and lead the Coaches
- Prepping and setting up gymnastic equipment, welcoming participants and warm up
- Ensuring adequate and safe use of matting
- Teach gymnastics through lessons plans
- Prepare gymnasts for testing or competition
- Pack up of equipment and tidy up after sessions
- Safety first – adhere to all safety procedures
- Maintain a coaching accreditation
- Liaising with stakeholders including parents and Gymnastics related personnel

The need-to-haves
- Enthusiasm and drive for creating outstanding and engaging classes
- Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience in leading coaching staff and coaching gymnastics
- Gymnastics coaching qualification
- Currently possess, or be willing to obtain, a positive notice Blue Card
The good-to-haves
- Current certification for First Aid and CPR or we will pay for these once you start
