Job Description

Job Title: Youth Engagement Worker (sessional contract)


As QPR Community Trust continues to grow, we are looking to recruit two new talented Youth Engagement Workers to work across our award-winning Youth and Communities Department.
Our Youth Engagement Workers will engage, educate and empower the young people who attend our sessions, helping them to make positive decisions and achieve their potential.
If you have experience in youth work and want a role where you can make a genuine impact withing the community then we want to hear from you.
Note: Football experience is not necessary and we would like to see applications from people with backgrounds in youth work, social care and education.


Key Responsibilities:

• Engage, educate and empower the young people – helping them to make positive decisions and achieve their potential
• Plan, design, adapt and deliver sessions that are engaging and inclusive
• Work with line manager / coordinators to find ways to improve our offering to the local community – engaging with new young people where possible
• Build positive working relationships with key partners including community groups and venues/ other providers.
• Ensure all administration tasks are completed accurately and within allocated time scales including handling personal data, safeguarding reporting and risk assessments
• Build positive relationships with the young people to provide support and guidance where necessary


The type of experience we are looking for:

Qualifications
• Degree in related subject (desirable)
• Level 2 certificate in youth work or higher (desirable)
• Emergency Aid (desirable)
• Safeguarding (desirable)
• DBS (desirable)


Skills, Knowledge, Experience
• Experience in working with 11-25 yr olds in a community / education / sport environment
• Knowledge and a commitment to Safeguarding, Health and Safety and Equality Diversity and Inclusion in relations to working in the community and youth work environment.
• Mentoring experience
• Experience working with disengaged or young people not in education (desirable)
• Knowledge of exit routes / pathways for young people to further their development (desirable)

• Respectful of different cultures / backgrounds
• Ability to build a positive rapport, show empathy and relate well to young people from a wide range of backgrounds
• Able to go ‘above and beyond’ to support then needs of the young people
